Parker Hannifin, the global leader in motion and control technologies, has introduced the new icountPDR online laser detector to provide periodic or continuous monitoring and early warning of particle and moisture contamination in hydraulic fluid systems, especially those used in demanding conditions. The icountPDR has all of the performance and features of the proven icountPD particle detector but with the additional benefit of a tough stainless steel housing and specially designed, robust system connections and internal components.  Combined, these features create an extremely consistent instrument that can be used in a wide range of applications, including construction, agricultural and forestry vehicles, helping to cut the cost of maintenance, repair and overhaul.

The icountPDR has been designed primarily as a OEM product for mounting on board vehicles, typically downstream of hydraulic pumps to give accurate analysis of the cleanliness of oils critical to the efficient operation of ancillary equipment, such as pistons, servos valves, control rams and gear pumps.

The icountPDR incorporates the latest Parker laser diode optical detection technology to produce precise and repeatable results, which are calibrated to ISO standards, enabling it to be used as part of predictive maintenance programmes.  The instrument is easy to integrate with conventional RS232, 0-5Volt, 4-20mA and CAN(J1939) communication systems, and can be connected to a PC or PLC for both remote control and continuous analysis; The icountPDR Setup Utility and Parker terminal software is supplied as standard.  The unit is fitted with alarm outputs for low, medium and high levels of contamination, has an optional flow control valve, and can be supplied with optional RH % moisture indicators.

The icountPDR can be used in systems operating at pressures from 2 to 420 bar, and under external temperatures from -30ºC to +60ºC.  It has a high resistance to vibration, while the external stainless steel casing withstands impact damage and is waterproof with a IP69K rating, enabling it to be pressure jet washed.

The icountPDR Particle Detector from Parker now combines robustness and strength with the most up to date technology in particle detection, offering a cost effective solution to fluid management and contamination to prolong fluid life and reduce vehicle downtime.
