Sellafield Ltd, the company responsible for safely delivering decommissioning, reprocessing and nuclear waste on behalf of the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA), has selected ERIKS as its main supplier of MRO mechanical spares for the next four years.  The contract covers the supply of valves, pumps, bearings, power transmissions, seals and gaskets, and commences on the 1st January.

The competition which was carried out as a collaborative procurement on behalf of the NDA, and the various site licence companies across their estate by Sellafield Ltd, sees ERIKS continuing to expand into regions where the company is not currently well-known.  However, ERIKS in-depth technical knowledge has secured a major deal that will not only service Sellafield but also support other NDA locations in the UK, from Dounreay to Dungeness.

“We supplied bearings and mechanical power transmission equipment to Sellafield when we were known as WYKO,” said David Arbuthnott, Corporate Key Accounts Director for ERIKS UK.  “Since ERIKS acquired WYKO in 2006, we have added some specialist flow technology businesses with real, in-depth technical knowledge to the UK portfolio, which stood us in good stead for this new contract, expanding into the valves, pumps, seals and gasket product arenas.”ERIKS is the Industrial Services arm of the largest private company in the Netherlands, SHV Holdings NV, with sales of €16bn in 2010 and 50,000 employees. ERIKS employs 5,600 people worldwide, of which nearly 2000 are in the UK.
